The Journal #7: It’s the Holidays!
I started the week with a new task which was to make 4 calls a day to either current or prospective clients. I think I’ve sort of gotten over my nerves at calling up people? But now that I don’t feel a pit in my stomach whenever I have to give someone a call, it’s also time to brush up on my skills in terms of leading the conversation and approaching the receiver like a friend. That’s something that is still hard for me to grasp as I find difficulty in treating the people I call, like friends - I’m not sure how to approach the conversation having small talks with people I’ve never talked to without it sounded awkward and weird.
But as I slowly grow into my role with experience, exposure and guidance, I’m confident in getting better at “socialising”. Apart from the new task I was given, in the past 3 weeks I’ve managed to set up 2 meetings scheduled for January. It might seem small, but setting the meeting for the first time gave me a huge confidence boost and also reassured me in how I have been reaching out to the clients. It’s definitely not enough at the rate the company intends to grow at, but all I can do is my best and hope things work out.
This was the last week of work before we have forced closure for the end of year holidays. I think on a more personal level, I’ve definitely grown to appreciate the people I’ve met at CVP and enjoy coming to work with them.
Although the majority of my job scope still feels very foreign to me, I’m looking forward to the growth in head counts at CVP in 2020. (Hopefully, with more people in sales for me to work together with and share my woes uwu) With the company’s plans to focus more on marketing, I’m excited to share my thoughts and contribute in whatever way I can as that has always been my core. I’ll take this break time to party hard and play hard, but also rest hard as I get ready to slog it out with the gang in the new year.
