Fresh Eyes Part 8: Pitch Perfect
Please don’t get me wrong, this week’s entry is not about The Bellas from pitch perfect. Although, how you doin’ @ Anna Kendrick. How’s it going everyone, I hope all of you had a splendid week. Let’s dive right in to this week’s talking points.
As you have read from my title, this week I was tasked to come up with a pitch or rather a proposal for a Fitbit TVC. Not going to lie, it was a daunting task because Fitbit wanted a lot of things as part of the proposal. Also, proposals are not a very strong suit of mine. Basically, Fitbit wants a TVC idea or concept that comprises of four stories that encompasses the areas of nutrition, sleep and activity.
The idea is to get Singaporeans to sign up for the Live Healthy SG programme. So yeah, I guess the monumental challenge I faced when I was working on this was, always, ideas. It’s difficult to force things out from yourself. When you were young, you were always told to think outside the box but how does one really do that, really?
I tried my best to visualise storylines and came out with four stories that seemed relatable to the areas of interest. I even came out with the rough script because that’s what they want to see as well.
At first, it was a stressful and daunting experience because I worry about not generating good ideas but no idea is a bad idea. It could be a $100 idea but if done right it could look like a $10000 idea. The stress was real but I am slowly learning to worry less and just do it. I have a group of supportive colleagues as well that will help me along the way.
The proposal or pitch wasn’t perfect but it was a good learning experience. It’ll be nice to train yourself to come up with fantastic ideas but those things do not happen overnight, it takes time. But I am always praying and looking for inspiration to help me.
I believe the key takeaway here is, don’t convince yourself that you have to shoulder big responsibilities like this for example, you don’t have to go through things alone and help is always nearby.
Seems like a life lecturing session well pardon me but I am just sharing how I feel, you know another man’s problems could be another man’s lessons. Alright, I am going to sign things off.
See ya in the next entry.
